Social Enterprise Update Volunteers Week

It would be remiss of us not to acknowledge Volunteers’ Week Scotland 2021 – and the vital role volunteers play in just about every aspect of life in Scotland. Within our social enterprise community itself, so many organisations are dependent on the contribution of volunteers to be able to deliver core services – and, over the last twelve months, this dependency has been greater than ever. The SE Census 2019 identified that almost two thirds of social enterprises provided volunteering opportunities – not to mention their key role at a governance level – ensuring accountability and transparency - one of the key criteria of the SE Voluntary Code of Practice in Scotland. So it is only fitting that this week’s SE Network News formally recognises the work and contribution of volunteers, not only within social enterprise, but across the wider society in Scotland.
